PLUM OLD TOM This VIP Gin Club exclusive was laun PLUM OLD TOM

This VIP Gin Club exclusive was launched as part of January 2023 box and comes courtesy of our good friends The Gower Gin Company.

What’s an Old Tom? Well, an Old Tom is a slightly sweetened style of gin (usually with sugar or honey) made famous in the 18th Century.

The inspiration for Plum Old Tom comes from their GŴYR Wassail Gin created to celebrate Gower’s wassailing tradition of blessing the orchards to ensure a good crop the following year. The Wassail Gin has an apple profile with a touch of plum; but they knew changing the recipe to make the plums and damsons the star of the show would make a beautiful liquid. Plum Old Tom was born…

Botanicals include Juniper, Coriander Seed, Angelica, Orris Root, Damsons, Plums, Apples, Elderberries, Sultanas, Orange Zest, Honey, Nutmeg & Ginger. To describe, fruity notes from the plum and damson mix with the hints of apple, ginger, sultanas and honey to create a luscious profile, rich mouthfeel and warming winter flavour. As a serve we throughly recommend Ginger Ale or why not try it in a Negroni?

Sian & Andrew pour their heart and soul into creating beautiful products and this one is no
different!

Hills & Harbour Gin… We have had the pleasure o Hills & Harbour Gin…

We have had the pleasure of working with the Crafty Distillery Team since they started developing their Hills & Harbour Gin several years ago. We were immediately captivated by the innovative branding and use of local botanicals that are truly reflective of their surroundings. Since then we have welcomed them to shows, virtual tastings and have continued to enjoy following their journey from afar…

Back in 2021 they launched a brand new bottle which is a striking piece of design of which we would expect nothing less from Team Crafty. The cap of the bottle also acts as a measure…genius!

The gin itself is made tasty by the secluded forests & coastlines of Galloway, Scotland. With local Noble Fir needles and Bladderwrack Seaweed, it leads with juniper and is balanced with hints of forest fir, tropical fruit, citrus spice, tangy sherbet and a subtle scent of the shore.

One of a small number of gins in Scotland to be distilled with their own spirit, they take local wheat and water combine in their 7 day fermentation process to create maximum character and mouth feel. This process takes more time, energy, cost and know-how, but delivering a gin that lives up to the true meaning of ‘craft’ is essential for them.

Perfect serve? Classic Tonic and a garnish of mango and you are on to an absolute winner!

21 magical Mediterranean botanicals come together 21 magical Mediterranean botanicals come together to produce a taste of the Italian Riviera with Portofino Dry Gin.

Botanicals include lavender, rosemary, sage, and lemon, alongside classic juniper to name but a few. The gin itself combines old and new distillation techniques, and is made using a retired grappa still and a modern vacuum distillation to harness the flavours and aromas of the floral/herbaceous botanicals.

Portofino Dry Gin’s initial notes are from fresh lemon and crisp juniper that transport us to the hills of Portofino. They give way to a universe of Mediterranean flavours: from the wild rosemary and lavender perfumes of the coastal scrub to the sweet and delicate notes of marjoram and sage that evoke the taste of traditional Ligurian cuisine.

And have we mentioned the bottle? Inspired by Portofino’s picturesque harbor, where colourful houses and green hills decorate the landscape between the sky and the sea. Its colour is representative of the turquoise sea of Portofino and its square solid-looking shape refers to traditional and elegant perfume containers from the 30s.

As a serve, we recommend Fever-Tree Indian or Fever-Tree Mediterranean and a garnish of lemon and rosemary.

Introducing Ahascragh Distillery's Xin Gin Xin Gi Introducing Ahascragh Distillery's Xin Gin

Xin Gin is a juniper-led dry gin with fresh citrus notes of orange zest and lemongrass combined with the exotic taste of the Asian fruit, persimmon, held by an earthy, herbaceous undertone of dill and cinnamon spice.

The unique bottle design, featuring ancient Celtic swirls and a cross-shaped label, symbolizes the founders’ commitment to honouring and staying connected to both of the cultures they hold dear; Ireland & Asia.

Xin’s founders Michelle and Gareth McAllister have Irish blood and Asian hearts. After spending many years in Asia, they wanted to merge what they loved about their two homes. The word itself means ‘heart’ or ‘feelings’ in Mandarin.

The design of the bottle, with ancient celtic swirls contrasted with a modern eastern aesthetic reflects the liquid inside – a perfect balance of European and Oriental botanicals. The cross shaped label represents a promise to stay connected and a crossing point of the two cultures they love.

It’s a fusion of culture but also flavours, and superbly done at that. There are some gins that just make waves as soon as they launch, and this is defiantly one of those, holding authenticity and soul at its core.

The best type of Roses are the ones that come in G The best type of Roses are the ones that come in Gin… Say hello to Silent Pool Rose 🌹

In 2014, founders Ian McCulloch and James Shelbourne met in their local pub (where else?) and discussed the idea of setting up a small, local distillery. Taking their inspiration from Scottish whisky distilleries, the two friends started out with a grand vision of making a truly sustainable distillery next to a fresh water source, producing handcrafted, artisan spirits using locally sourced ingredients. The end result is a distillery that has become a household name, known not only for their unique and stunning bottle, but also the delicious liquid.

Silent Pool Rose is distilled with a unique rose tea infusion to create a distinctive yet delicate rose flavour. This award winning Rose Expression Gin shares the Silent Pool Gin DNA in terms of its complexity and refreshingly individual character, however the core recipe has been refined to compliment and enhance the rose notes. Some of the original botanicals – pear, bergamot, cubeb and cardamom – have been increased while lemon becomes the leading citrus.

The bottle carries a pink copper ribbon to denote the rose flavour. It is a delicate blend. Light, elegant and smooth with notes of vetiver and cardamom mingling beautifully on the palate. Delicate rose notes build in the back of the mouth, along with a lingering finish of citrus and spice.

We recreated their perfect serve using Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic Water and Pear (a garnish not used often enough in our opinion!)..

⭐️ NEW BOTTLE ALERT ⭐️ Barra Atlantic Gi ⭐️ NEW BOTTLE ALERT ⭐️

Barra Atlantic Gin has a brand new look encapsulating it’s maritime treasure status and their environmental responsibilities to the Isle of Barra

Husband and Wife Team Katie and Michael Morrison had long held aspirations of distilling their own gin, and low and behold they’ve achieved their goal and then some by creating a modern fresh and utterly intriguing gin that’s a love letter to the Isle they call home.

Created with 17 carefully selected botanicals, juniper is balanced with a standout botanical Caragreen seaweed, delivering a distinct yet charming array of floral and herbs notes. It’s dry, rich with just a touch of sweetness and saltiness, with a hint of spice lingering on the finish. The flavours can only be described as a dance on the palate and are truly representative of the surrounding landscape - a gin perfect for those that enjoy a coastal charm to their gins.

As a perfect serve we would recommend an Indian Tonic and a garnish of grapefruit and rosemary. Delicious!

A Dog Lovers Gin… 🐶 Long Dog Gin is inspire A Dog Lovers Gin… 🐶

Long Dog Gin is inspired by the owners love and passion for their Miniature Dachshunds `Max` and `Paddy`.

Taking the boy’s red colour combined with their strong character and loyal and loving nature, they sought to create a bold yet smooth gin of red citrus flavours that would stand out from the crowd.

On the nose, there’s lots of layered citrus, slight sweetness, touch of spice. On the palate, it’s got a gorgeous soft mouthfeel, despite the heavy citrus layers, they stick to the finish with a classic grapefruit bitterness, whilst up front is lots of light warming spice.

In a G&T, the nose is citrussy, but juniper heavy. The palate gives off lots of citrus, with a big bite of grapefruit bitterness.

Marmalade Gin… 🍊 Copper in the Clouds Marma Marmalade Gin… 🍊

Copper in the Clouds Marmalade Gin is distilled, bottled and hand finished at Dowsetts Farm in Hertfordshire. They make their very own marmalade onsite for this gin, using fresh pink grapefruit, seville orange and blood orange peels. Yummy… 😋

It’s a rich orange in colour, and as you would expect it’s sweet and zesty with a slight bitter note, exactly the way marmalade should be. It’s a celebration of citrus if you will just waiting to be savoured and enjoyed…

We love the chic bottles as well, wrapped in a specially designed print and finished with a coordinated colour wax, it’s got a completely different look and feel to it. Simple yet totally effective, giving us a glimpse into the colourful personalities of the Copper In A Clouds team.

Fancy meeting and sampling with them in person? We are delighted they will be joining us in London, Faringdon (Oxfordshire), Bedford and Bury St Edmunds this year as they make their “Gin To My Tonic” debut.
