Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’

£45.00

Vendor: TGTMT

The iconic ‘Start Point’ lighthouse marked the beginning of the 19th century voyages of the Salcombe Fruit Schooners which carried the exotic goods, fruits and spices that inspire this gin’s signature flavour.

Distilled to the exacting one-shot London Dry method, this classic citrus led gin is elegantly smooth, distinct and complex yet extremely versatile. Every drop of Salcombe Gin is distilled with an unrivalled passion, care and attention to detail.

The gin is handcrafted using the more traditional ‘one shot’ method, on ‘Provident’, in a striking 450 litre copper pot still which stands proud for all to see at the distillery in Salcombe.

They use the finest of botanicals, hand sourced from around the world, many of which have been traced back to the global maritime trading routes and cargoes once carried by the Salcombe Fruiters. Each of the botanicals we use has a story to tell, none are mass produced, all are traceable to their source and all are picked at their best. We are uncompromisingly fussy about their quality.

Of utmost importance and often overlooked in gin distillation is the quality of the water used for blending. We know that water plays an important part in creating our phenomenally smooth collection of gins which is why they blend their gins with Dartmoor water; some of the softest and purest water in England, sourced from high up in the wilds of Dartmoor National Park.

Salcombe Gin ‘Start Point’

TASTING NOTES
‘Start Point’ has distinct notes of red grapefruit along with heady, earthy pine notes from the Macedonian juniper. It is perfectly balanced with warming spiced aromas on the nose. Rich, full and incredibly smooth on the palate, with a touch of earthy sweetness from liquorice and angelica root. The finish is fresh, lingering and balanced whilst lengthened by green cardamom.

Best served: On its own over ice or with a Fever-Tree Indian Tonic and a slice of red grapefruit to complement the rich and warm citrus notes.
