Cuckoo Signature Gin is the creation of Brindle Distillery in Lancashire.
Inspired by the local legend of the Brindle Cuckoo and handcrafted on the farm.
The story takes us back to the middle ages.
It was a common belief that spring would begin upon hearing the first call of the Cuckoo.
The Cuckoo was a sign of good fortune and prosperity to farmers.
The villagers of Brindle heard the call of the Cuckoo and wanted to keep it within the village forever.
A wall was built surrounding the field where the Cuckoo supposedly lived.
With the wall being two stones too low, the Cuckoo unfortunately escaped.
Thanks to the legend, anyone who is born and raised in brindle is known as a brindle Cuckoo.
From this the Brindle Distillery and Brindle Cuckoo was born.
