Have you tried Wild Cherry 🍒 Gin & Cola… Mad Have you tried Wild Cherry 🍒 Gin & Cola… Made with hand picked wild cherries from the Black Powder Distillery orchards, along with Montmorency and Morello cherries, the result is a liquid that’s a deep red in appearance. The colour is of course a great indicator of the taste, as it’s full of rich cherry goodness that explodes on the palate. 100% natural, there’s subtle hints of glorious marzipan adding depth and a cake like sweetness to the proceedings. Whilst you can pair this with Indian Tonic, our personal preference is with Fever-Tree Madagascan Cola. Arenal Volcano Martini (meaning hot springs) with Arenal Volcano Martini (meaning hot springs) with Samara Coffee Bean Gin.   Samara Volcano Coffee Bean Gin celebrates the Costa Rican Heritage of "El Grano de Oro" also known as The Golden Bean. This gin embodies its namesake and is full of bold and warming coffee notes with notes of juniper, angelica and orange adding balance and depth. Coffee in gin may sound like an odd combination to some, and we’ll admit we were skeptical at first, however this works wonders as a G&T whilst making a fantastic base for cocktails. Why we hear you ask? The coffee taste is totally authentic, but it also still tastes like gin. It’s a difficult balance for sure, but Eduardo and Ana at Samara have done wonders with this and have totally encapsulated the charms of Costa Rican coffee. As a G & T serve we recommend Fever-Tree Naturally Light Tonic and a garnish of either fresh Coffee Beans, or Orange & Thyme for the perfect serve.  As soon as we tried this gin however our thoughts naturally turned to how amazing this gin would be in a cocktail! We opted for a twist on the classic Espresso Martini, it seemed only right! We cannot emphasise the depth of flavour in this cocktail. Its utterly divine. The addition of vanilla bitters gives a lift and touch of sweetness. ‘“Arenal Volcano Martini” Ingredients: 35ml Volcano Coffee Gin 25ml Kahula 20ml of fresh espresso coffee 5ml of Sugar syrup 2 dashes of vanilla bitters   Method: Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, add ice, shake vigorously, strain into a frozen coupe glass and garnish with a mint leaf.   From soft, sandy beaches, to soaring volcanoes and tropical rainforest, Costa Rica has incredible diversity and beauty in its landscapes, plants and flowers. Shivering Mountain Gin is located in the heart of the UK’s Peak District National Park. They sit in the beautiful Hope Valley, overlooked by MAM TOR, the majestic peak known locally as Shivering Mountain. Embracing their inner-ginologists, they’ve harnessed the landscape, the micro-climate, fresh spring waters and natural botanicals to capture the beauty and spirit of the Peak District in a bottle. Their Premium Pink Gin is the epitome of purity and craft. Instead of adding sweetener they’ve crafted the perfect balance of pink grapefruit and orange with their dry gin base along with with juniper, and fruity notes from sloes and bilberries. This feast for the senses is artisan in name and artisan in nature, and one we’ve been mightily impressed by. To describe, well, we can’t ignore the bottle which is a thing of beauty and seduces you on the eye before reaching the nose and palate. 14 organic botanicals including juniper, lemon and orange peels, almonds, olive tree leaves, elderflower, lavender and the stunning Croatian national flower, the Iris, come together to produce a superb dry gin with a multi-layered balanced flavour. On the nose it’s a real combination of botanicals, with piney fresh juniper shining brightly accompanied by fresh citrus notes and lavender. On the palate, it’s distinct, dry yet balanced, with juniper, citrus and lavender continuing to shine, with herbs and earthy notes underpinning the flavour journey, and almonds contributing to the creamy mouthfeel. The finish is long lasting, fresh and certainly rememberable. Overall, it conjures images of the Croatian countryside and leaves a long lasting impression with its slick design and robust yet balanced flavours. A Strawberry dream on a hot summers day….. 🍓 A Strawberry dream on a hot summers day….. 🍓 Fresha is a five times distilled premium strawberry gin described as having Spanish style win English class - we certainly agree with that! Fresha uses 7 botanicals, such as Huelva strawberries as well as vanilla and star anise. All of these quality ingredients are expertly distilled using traditional pot stilling methods by Mr Spain Distillery, which is located in the Andalucía region. On the nose the strawberry scent is utterly divine, it’s exactly as you would expect it to be as it fills the nose. To taste it is smooth on the palate, with succulent strawberry, subtle spiced aromatic notes and of course bold juniper. It is a delightful medley of flavours and an example of exceptional fruit inspired gin. Fresha is also one of only a handful of “Pink” Gins with a coveted Gold from the San Francisco Spirit Awards. Blueberry Harrogate Gin Over the past few weeks w Blueberry Harrogate Gin Over the past few weeks we have taken a gin journey with the wonderful Harrogate Tipple, exploring their unique flavours along the way. This evening we finish with their Blueberry Harrogate Gin. Each gin in their range a unique flavour profile and authentic taste. The founders, Sally & Steve, took their love of gin and transformed it into creating a range of artisan spirits. They have created a family run small batch distillery based on the Ripley Castle Estate in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. The majority of botanicals used in their gins are grown in the 750 year old gardens within the castle walls. They are passionate about their location and provenance of what they produce. Harrogate Classic gin fuses traditional processes with a modern approach. The Blueberry variety was inspired by the health qualities of this fruit along with the dream of holidays with clear blue seas and skies. To make this dreamy creation blueberries are distilled with delicate botanicals including and lavender and finished exclusively with Harrogate Spring Water. The beautiful blue hue is all natural and comes from the Cornflower Petals. The scent on the nose is floral with a sweet fruity edge. The juniper tones underpin as a finish. To taste it is simply bursting full of blueberry flavour, this gives way to pine notes, with floral citrus notes. A delicious summer tipple. We paired with Fever-Tree light tonic water and fresh blueberries. A delicious long serve. The story began on the ‘Hills of Hepple’, one The story began on the ‘Hills of Hepple’, one of Britain’s last wild sanctuaries for juniper. Valentine Warner took acclaimed bartender Nick Strangeway and distillery developer Cairbry Hill to the remote Northumbrian National Park, Hepple to meet Walter Riddell, owner of the Hepple Estate in March 2013. At this point the gin renaissance was well underway. With distilleries blossoming and new technologies and innovations coming to the fore they sought out their own story. Events took an interesting turn when in 2014, Chris Garden, the star distiller of Sipsmith moved back North, Valentine Warner wasted no time making contact. Interestingly Chris Garden had said he would never make another gin, however he was struck by this unique project and story, together they then embarked on a journey to create a gin that is a true celebration of Juniper. Hepple Gin developed a pioneering Triple Technique of distillation that delivers a gin of exceptional freshness and purity, a classic, remastered. Their gin takes five times longer to develop and is the only gin made using fresh green juniper. which includes pot stills, vacuum distillation and a supercritical CO2 extraction process! A base spirit is distilling in a pot still using a selection of botanicals including Italian juniper. More botanicals are vacuum-distilled, including locally picked juniper, Amalfi lemon and lovage. The super-critical CO2 extraction process is used to make a spirit flavoured with Macedonian juniper. On the nose there are delightful aromas of Lemon peel and peppery juniper with herbaceous undertones. To taste, Coriander, pine and sherbet lemon sweetness mingle to give a complex, fresh, juniper forward feel.  A lively citrus finish with a good kick of juniper. There’s a whole host of inspiration from Hepple around perfect serves, we opted to recreate their Hepple White Lady. Delicious.
