AboutShakespeare Distillery
Founded in 2015, Shakespeare Distillery is an artisan spirit producer based in Stratford upon Avon, creating carbon neutral spirits with a twist of history.
They create a range of premium, handcrafted gins, rums and limited-edition spirits made entirely onsite at the distillery, including the award-winning Stratford Dry Gin and Jester White Rum. In 2019 the distillery opened its doors on the Drayton Manor Farm estate as a visitor centre and along with an onsite shop, they now offer a suite of popular experiences including Distillery Tours, Gin Tastings, Gin and Rum Schools, Gin Tasting Cruises and Cocktail Masterclasses.
Their visitor centre has won a number of Gold and Silver awards from the 2020 and 2022 West Midlands Tourism Awards and a Traveller’s Choice Award by Tripadvisor for the past few years running.
The latest addition to the Shakespeare Distillery family is their 1 High St shop and upper floor Tasting Room and Rum School in the centre of Stratford upon Avon. Named‘ Judith’s School of Spirits’ the building used to be the home of Judith, William Shakespeare’s younger daughter and her husband, Thomas Quiney, who ran a wine business from the premises.
Shakespeare Distillery have lovingly restored the upper floors of the building and, without destroying the character, have made it a state-of-the-art facility for enjoying their spirits. The ground floor shop showcases their own spirits plus a range of wine, beer, cider and chocolates from local producers alongside gifts from Shakespeare’s School room & Guildhall.
